Reports to: Owner or Designee

Status: Full-time or Part-time, non-exempted

Work Schedule: Flexible, based on the needs of the business.

Work Location: Hybrid (Split between office and home)

Salary Range: $19.00 - $23.00

Position Summary:

We are seeking a driven and strategic Employee Benefits Specialist to lead the growth and stewardship of our Group benefits portfolio while delivering expert guidance on benefits administration. This role requires a sharp sense of discernment to evaluate client needs and recommend tailored solutions, along with the ability to galvanize both clients and internal teams into action. The ideal candidate brings a high level of tenacity, pursuing opportunities with persistence and professionalism to drive results. You will be responsible for selling, soliciting, negotiating, and differentiating insurance plans that align with the goals of assigned or prospective clients. Success in this role will be measured by your ability to build trusted relationships, grow our book of business, and enhance the agency’s reputation for excellence

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement creative marketing strategies to promote new insurance plans or recommend enhancements to existing coverage with a focus on meeting each client’s unique needs.
  • Build meaningful and compassionate relationships with prospective clients through proactive networking, marketing initiatives, and referrals—bringing energy, enthusiasm, and genuine care to every interaction.
  • Assess individual or business needs with a consultative approach, using quick thinking and industry expertise to tailor benefits solutions that provide real value and peace of mind.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to craft personalized risk management strategies that align with their goals and risk profiles.
  • Take initiative in reporting weekly and quarterly progress to the Leadership Team, contributing as a reliable and engaged team player.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, staying organized and detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stay passionate and informed by continuously updating your product knowledge and researching evolving industry trends and services.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employer groups, maintaining regular communication with key personnel to understand and anticipate the evolving needs of their teams.
  • Lead engaging and informative presentations and workshops to help employees clearly understand their benefit options—making the process approachable, educational, and even fun.
  • Ensure all policy and compliance requirements are met with professionalism and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a health insurance agent or in a related role, with a genuine passion for helping others navigate their benefits with confidence and care.
  • Strong expertise in health and supplemental insurance products, with a compassionate, client-first approach.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex benefits information to individuals at all levels, making the process easy to understand and approachable.
  • A fast thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing client needs or industry trends.
  • Tech-savvy and proficient in key computer applications, with the ability to manage systems efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in analyzing data to uncover insights that support informed, client-centered decision-making.
  • Self-starter with a drive for excellence, able to set, pursue, and achieve strategic goals independently while remaining a committed team player.
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic communicator with the ability to present, influence, and sell with energy, professionalism, and authenticity.
  • Experience delivering customized, client-focused solutions while building lasting, trust-based relationships.
  • In-depth understanding of insurance benefits regulations and compliance standards, with a detail-oriented and responsible mindset.
  • Comfortable working independently yet highly collaborative, contributing positively to team dynamics and company culture.
  • Consultative sales experience, driven by a sincere desire to guide and support clients in choosing the best options for their needs.
  • Willing and eager to participate in community events and networking opportunities outside regular business hours to grow connections and represent the agency with enthusiasm.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in health insurance and/or benefits administration.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Montana Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check
  • Proof of auto liability insurance in compliance with Montana State laws.
  • Requirement to obtain and maintain health licensure, company appointments, and CEs. This cost will be covered by the employer.
