Staff Accountant

Specialty manufacturer near Missoula is looking for a full time Staff Accountant to add to their growing team. This innovative and growing company prides itself on using American-made materials for their American-made products. 

Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting functions by ensuring the accuracy of financial records and assist in month-end close process. Prior experience in manufacturing is ideal along with a strong understanding of cost accounting, excellent analytical skills, and ERP (NetSuite) experience. 

Essential Functions and Duties:

• GL: Maintain general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and perform account reconciliations
• AP: Assist with processing vendor payments and resolving discrepancies
• Cost Analysis: Collaborate with operations to track and analyze production costs, including labor and materials. Reconcile PO's and invoices
• Monthly / Quarterly Close: Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities
• Compliance and Reporting: Assist with reconciliation of sales tax filings, fixed asset tracking, and adherence to internal controls
• Variance Analysis: Analyze and report on budget-to-actual variances, including cost deviations and operational performance. Review variance analysis between moths and provide comments
• Audit Support: Prepare scheduled and provide necessary documentation for external audits
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting

Qualifications:

• 3 to 5 years of accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Related field.
• Experience processing payroll
• Proficiency in ERP systems
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles
