ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Job Summary:

Full Time, Year Round

 

Come join our team as Assistant General Manager, responsible for maintaining and improving the quality of the guest experience. This position will report directly to the General Manager.

We have two seasons.  Our first is a winter recreation season, typically mid-November/December to mid-April.  Our second season is our summer season.  We operate the Route of the Hiawatha bike trail, Memorial Day weekend to mid-September.  These are two very busy seasons.

Responsibilities:

Work with the different departments to prepare for each season.  Train teams on working as teams together to succeed to the end results.  Work collaboratively with the operational departments to deliver a guest experience that exceeds their expectations.  Operate each season at proper staffing levels.

Maintain and continue to develop an amicable working relationship with the United States Forest Service, Free Ski School, and the Lookout Pass Race Team.

Lead by example, must have a participative management style with a hands-on work ethic. The goal is to form a cohesive team that encompasses all staff and departments.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively and professionally with the operational team, sales team and departments to deliver a guest experience that exceeds expectations.
  • Continually train team on execution of presentation and service brand standards as defined by the company.
  • Responsible for guest satisfaction, upholding and improving upon standards, and financial performance of the operation.
  • Operate facilities at proper staffing levels for all seasons.
  • Ensure facilities and employees have necessary tools and equipment to effectively do their jobs.
  • Ensure that operation fully supports initiatives with corporate strategic partners by giving outstanding representation to their product.
  • Maintain and continue to develop an amicable working relationship with the ski team, FSS, and USFS.
  • Define performance standards.
  • Product Management: effectively inventory, purchase, and manage all necessary resources to maintain and/or improve quality standards.
  • Leadership Responsibility: lead by example. Participative management style with hands-on work ethic. Form cohesive team encompassing all staff members. Daily supervision of all staff members. Verbally communicate with each other in a calm, positive manner during all functions with the kitchen, service, beverage, conventions services, and engineering staff, as well as the guest.
  • Maintain, always, a professional and approachable demeanor with all internal and external guests.
  • Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all applicable federal, state, local and corporate safety and health regulations/ standards.
  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment for employees
  • Work as a member of the property leadership team and in a manner that prioritizes the success of the overall lodging property first and foremost.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent – required
  • BS Degree is preferred. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative.
  • Minimum 4 years industry experience - required
  • Minimum 4 years supervisory experience - required
  • Driver's license - required
  • Experienced and comfortable with computers - required
  • Experience with Purchasing software & MS office suite - strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English - required
  • Ability to lift and carry 40+ lbs, walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be available to work holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, December 26th through January 2nd, Presidents’ Day Weekend, and any other holidays as requested. - required

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $80K - $90K per year
